Heading to the KC Game Fair

Some of the minions are going to be representing the company at the KC Game Fair in - you guessed it -  Kansas City. The convention starts on Thursday, Nov. 15 but for the first time since 2006 Tabletop Adventures won't be arriving until Friday. We plan to be there by lunchtime so we can have everything set up before the game of Against the Darkness scheduled for 2:00. The scenario will be "An Unorthodox Adversary," which we also ran at Nuke-Con, and it will run again Saturday afternoon.

In the evenings we'll be doing something a little different: Vicki will be running playtests of some new monsters that have been written. These are not likely to be full four-hour game sessions, but they will still be fun. The suspense will be high: Will the monster be severely underpowered, allowing the player characters to tromp all over it? Or will it be too tough for the Justiciars, resulting in unholy carnage? (Vicki is rubbing her hands with glee just thinking about it.) The games Friday night and Saturday night will test different monsters, so feel free to sign up for more than one game.

On the non-RPG side, Elizabeth plans to run Asmadi card games, such as Gold Thief, We Didn't Playtest This At All, and Whack A Cat-Girl. She will also run some of the crystalline games by Three Sages Games, such as Gnome Crystals, Dwarf Stones, and Halley's Hold-Em.

Finally on Sunday we plan an "open library" session of Against the Darkness. Participants check the list of available scenarios and select one they have not yet played, using either pregenerated characters or ones they have used previously. (They could also surprise Vicki and select another monster playtest, just to keep her on her toes!) Then about 4:00 we'll begin folding up our tent (so to speak) and preparing to wend our way home.

We're looking forward to seeing many people from previous years, and anticipate meeting some fun new folks, as we always seem to do. See you at the Game Fair!

The minions of Tabletop Adventures are pleased to announce that it is once again their favorite time of year – the Overlord’s Birthday. In keeping with the spirit of giving required of them at this season, the minions would like to invite all and sundry to a sale to be held in his honor. A discount of 20% will be granted on each electronic product during this sale. All of our sales sites are involved in the minions’ tribute to their beloved Overlord. (They know the Overlord is beloved – he tells them so!) The sale will continue through the end of November in honor of the Overlord’s esteemed consort, who also has her birthday this month.

Now is the perfect time to pick up any Tabletop Adventures products you are missing, or try something a little different. Get support for your science fiction game with the Destinations series, or Into the Future: Derelict Starships. Creep into some modern horror with Against the Darkness, or the descriptions in Halls of Horror. Give one of our Deck O’ Names name generators a try – they are fun and useful for future, modern, fantasy, or Asian campaigns.

Running a fantasy game? Let Bits of the Boulevard bring life to your city, introduce a unique NPC from Shards of the Heart, or add a little magic to any 3.5-edition-compatible campaign – even the newest – with our Bits of Magicka series. Last but not least, don’t miss any of the fantasy terrain descriptions in the Bits of Darkness or Bits of the Wilderness series. Now more than ever before you can augment your imagination with products from Tabletop Adventures!

Do not fail to take advantage of this opportunity! Slackers are likely to find themselves in the oubliette, which is not a nice place to spend the winter. You can purchase Tabletop Adventures’ electronic products at Your Games Now, paizo.com, e23, DriveThruRPG and RPGNow.

Science News had a short article on the telescope, and also posted a photo essay featuring some of the most striking photographs taken by the Hubble. GMs and players of science fiction RPGs may also want to check out the links to other Science News articles, in the margin. Eye-catching titles include: "By Jupiter! Comet crashes dazzle and delight," "Wrenching Findings: Homing in on dark energy," and "New evidence of galactic black hole."

Happy GM's Day

Happy GM's Day from Tabletop Adventures!

Not only is our own sale still going on (through March 7th), but also RPGNow is having a GM's Day sale involving over 150 publishers on that site. That sale will be continuing until some unspecified time on Monday morning. (Click on the graphic to the right to go directly to the sale page.)

Our products are also on sale at paizo.com, and Paizo itself is having a GM's Day sale. (The information about it is right on the home page of Paizo's website.) Three other companies who produce Pathfinder supplements - Super Genius Games, OtherWorld Creations, and Tricky Owlbear - also have their products on sale at Paizo. Of course, our products aren't specifically supplements to Paizo's game, but since our fantasy products are usable with almost any fantasy roleplaying game, fans of Paizo have found them useful as well.

So, you have not just today but all weekend to pick up something special for your Game Master. And don't forget the best way to celebrate GM's Day - go play a game!

Tabletop Adventures celebrates GM’s Day

GM’s Day is coming March 4th! The Game Master is a critical part of a roleplaying game, and every so often it's important to acknowledge that fact. One way to do that is by observing GM's Day, a once-a-year event to honor Game Masters. Considering that Tabletop Adventures built our business on "Help for the Harried Game Master," it seems appropriate that we should take part!

Tabletop Adventures is celebrating GM's Day by offering a 25% discount on all our electronic products, at all of our sales venues. We invite you to check out our various lines of helpful products and then let your players know what you might like, or pick out a few to make life easier for your GM.

  • Help out your GM by providing some creative terrain descriptions, such as Bits of the Wilderness: Into the Mountains or our ENnie-nominated Bits of the Wilderness: Into the Open. On the other hand, you could offer some magical bling with the excellent Bits of Magicka series.
  • Make it easier to run games on the fly with TTA’s Deck O’ Names products – Card Deck 1 for realistic but unusual names, Anglo Saxon Places for fantasy locations, Modern for ethnically diverse present or future names, and Japanese for Asian feel. All Deck O’ Names products are available as print-and-cut cards and as software.
  • For the sci-fi GM, pick up Into the Future: Derelict Starships, with descriptions to make any lost or abandoned spaceship a place of mystery and danger. You could also get one or more of our Destinations line – stat-free futuristic locations (such as space stations, or cantinas) to use with nearly any science fiction setting.
  • Does your GM like horror – or do you? Check out Halls of Horror, with creepy descriptions of modern buildings for use in any horror game, or treat someone to Against the Darkness, a Vatican horror RPG with easy-to-learn mechanics and miraculous powers with which to face down the minions of evil.

Tabletop Adventures' products are available at Your Games Now, paizo.com, e23, the ENWorld PDF Store, DriveThruRPG, and RPGNow. Any Game, Any Time – Tabletop Adventures!

Derelict Starships coverIn the vastness of space, the ship’s intrepid crew discovers a starship, floating wounded in the void. The boarding party opens the hatch in anticipation: what is down the corridor? Tabletop Adventures provides scores of descriptions of the sights and dangers of a derelict starship, stat-free and suitable for use with nearly any futuristic game, regardless of system. Whether a ship is damaged, abandoned, or filled with the victims of a space-borne plague, these pieces will help bring the dead ship to life.

This is a “Bits” book, with our usual 100 short descriptions that can fit in anywhere. You could also choose among dozens of special locations within the ship: hatches and corridors, life pods and crew quarters, hydroponics, medical bay, cargo hold, weapons turret and more. Excellent original art by Jeff Uryasz depicts several scenes that can help you set the mood for your game.

Bring even more realism to your vision of the future with “Skeletons in Space.” This article reveals what happens to a dead body in a vacuum, and it’s not pretty!

Into the Future: Derelict Starships has all the details needed to make your futuristic adventures just that – adventurous. To make your life easier, a thorough index allows you to quickly find a description to fit a particular need.

Tabletop Adventures products are available on Your Games Now, paizo.com, e23, the EN World PDF Store, RPGNow and DriveThruRPG.

Augment your imagination with Into the Future: Derelict Starships from Tabletop Adventures. Buy it Today, Play it Tonight!
